(More customer reviews)This Firewire 800 cable adapter is small and light featuring fast Firewire800 transfer rate. HOWEVER - this thing gets HOT!! After leaving it plugged in for 10 minutes, the connector became noticeably warm to touch. I disconnect it and felt the metal connector - it's quite uncomfortably warm to touch which made me concerned because the USB 2.0 adapter that comes with my GoFlex 500 GB does not get this hot (not even close). Furthermore, the short FireWire 800 connector cable is integrated to the dock / not detachable - it's not suitable for desktop use due to the short cable length. Overall I am afraid the long term durability of the cable due to the extreme amount of heat put out by this cable.
