(More customer reviews)I was looking for a NEW wired router for my small (2 pc) network. I thought I had found the perfect solution with a Netgear rp614V2 purchased in Jan 2011, until I tried to register my NEW router and found that it had been manufactured in 2005. Then I found that I could not get any firmware updates when I started getting some strange unable to connect to the internet failures. I am using the factory defaults and found that DHCP is not always renewing the pc's ip address on the network. Unplugging the power on the router and the network cable on the pc, then repowering the router and replugging the pc cable allows me to reconnect to the internet. I would NOT have bought this router if I had known that it was manufactured in 2005 and that I could NOT get firmware updates for it. I guess I will be buying a NEW router manufactured in 2010 or 2011 with wireless and wired even though I do not need wireless, so I can update the firmware if I have problems.
updated 3/4/2011- I was able to find a newer fireware release 5.20 and install it.The original release of 5.13 had several problems that are fixed in 5.20. If you buy this update to 5.20 before using the router, it fixed my problems.
